Chelsea and Robert’s day at Cowdray House, Walled Gardens was filled with small details, thoughtful touches, beautiful styling and heaps of love - this is the product of a wedding industry connoisseur finding her true love and English gentleman.
They also met just before Covid while Chelsea was on a six month tourist visa in the south of England for a self-empowerment sabbatical after major life changes... and then she got stuck in the UK during its first lockdown. Robert was truly her unexpected bright light, and they fared the course together along with his becoming the best cat dad to her beloved Miss Pickles Barrington. Forged in global chaos and immigration challenges, their relationship has a calming energy.
After two registry ceremony cancellations and a wedding postponement their intimate micro wedding for family and close friends at The Walled Garden at Cowdray was the perfect English fairytale for these two. A love of Jane Austen and the rich historic buildings in England were also a key factor in their decision to marry at The Walled Garden at Cowdray Estate.
Beautiful details were peppered throughout their day like fairy dust;
Words are important to both of them, so their handfasting ribbons had Jane Austen quotes as well as Chelsea's bouquet ribbons had the poetic words,
Being the wedding designer and styled shoot producer she is in her wedding industry career, Chelsea designed all the paper goods including their invitation suite with the help of a Yorkshire-based letterpress printer.
With their heart for eco-friendly and the friendly pollinator that is the bumblebee, Robert and Chelsea's day-of stationery was self-printed on wildflower-seeded paper so that guests could plant their programs and menus at home to help grow a little garden and minimise waste.
Their ceremony confetti was also biodegradable natural flower petals.
Their In Loving Memory chair at the ceremony was in honour of Robert's dad and Chelsea's Nuna and Poppi.
Their gluten-free wedding cake was lemon and raspberry, and their wedding favours were Yorkshire Mixture sweets which were a nod to Robert's family heritage. His great-great grandfather was G.E. Barton, one of the leading Victorian confectioners and bakers in 1800s York.
Since Chelsea and Robert also have a joint venture together in wedding signs with High Oak & Co, they handmade the beautiful wooden table place cards and event signage.
Because of the pandemic, travel difficulties, and UK government restrictions on weddings, they had to keep their numbers at 15, and Chelsea's American loved ones were not able to attend, so to bridge the two sides of the Atlantic, they live streamed the ceremony, and guests interacted together online.
