2022 is going to be a big year for luxury weddings. With wedding restrictions eased, engaged couples are now able to plan their perfect wedding day. It looks different for every couple – from a wow-factor wedding with a big guest list to a more intimate celebration. Weddings are a very personal event for each bride and groom, and so wedding trends shouldn’t completely guide your choices. Instead, they offer some inspiration to help with some of the many decisions you’ll be making for your day. Especially those last minute ones! Here’s my top five wedding trends for the spring and summer 2022 wedding season:
Outdoor Wedding TRENDS
As the sun starts to make an appearance, backyard weddings embracing the outdoors will become popular again. Specifically, marquee weddings offer a great solution for a premium UK wedding. This type of wedding helps to bring the outdoors in with a glorious view outside. Plus it has the added benefit of cover! Some of the best marquee wedding venues in Hampshire and West Sussex include Somerley House and Findon Place.
Bright Wedding Colour PaletteS
Of course, timeless pastel colours will always be a firm spring favourite. But this year you might want to think bold and daring for your wedding colour palette. Bright flowers can be a great way to add colour to an otherwise more neutral wedding colour scheme. “Spring flowers are often bright but also have a delicateness of form about them. They create joyful whimsical arrangements which are a welcome sight after winter. Choose flowers such as Narcissus, Ranunculus, Gelder rose and Lilac. Furthermore, for summer, think peonies, delphiniums and garden roses, to name just a few” says Sue of Bramble and Belle.
Citrus Wedding CakeS
Leave traditional fruit cake and vanilla sponge behind and embrace a refreshing citrus flavoured cake. Tangy flavours is one of the key wedding trends for these upcoming seasons. Whether lemon, orange or even lime, a citrus cake will provide a refreshing dessert for your guests. Additionally, the vibrant colours will look especially stunning at al fresco weddings. I work with bespoke wedding cake designers such as Anna Lewis Cake Design and Sugar Plum Bakes. With their help, I ensure a stunning looking (and tasting!) cake.
Eco-Friendly Wedding TRENDS
Indeed, with everything else going on in the world it can sometimes be easy to forget about the world itself. There’s so many ways to reduce your environmental impact at your wedding. For instance, planning an eco-conscious menu, using reusable decor or buying a vintage wedding dress. One simple way to embrace an eco-conscious wedding is to pick recyclable wedding stationery. This might include items such as name cards and table plans.
I work closely with Emma Bradstreet of Paper & Press for wedding stationery. Emma uses paper that is FSC credited as well as recyclable foil. She says,“I aim to create wedding stationery that my couples then treasure as mementos of their special day. Repurposing your stationery after your wedding is a great way to reduce your environmental impact. Linen covered table plans can look beautiful on your wedding day. But – they can also function as a pin-board for your home afterwards. Welcome signs can be framed and re-used as art pieces for your wall.”
Small Luxury Wedding TRENDS
For many couples, the move towards smaller weddings might bring a sigh of relief. The pressure to have a never-ending guest list has dissipated! Following a very dry wedding season (and then only heavily number restricted weddings), smaller numbers are here to stay. Perfect for those who prefer the idea of a more intimate wedding day. If you’re looking to plan a small wedding in London, I recommend checking out Kew Gardens and Petersham Nurseries.
I hope this trends round up has offered some inspiration! Hopefully it has given you some ideas for your own luxury wedding in Hampshire, Surrey or London. If you’re looking for a luxury wedding planner in South England, I’d love to chat with you. You can find my contact details here.
